Peter J. Mayer, DDS, MD

Doctor Mayer was born and raised in Minnesota. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Minnesota, where he received a bachelor’s degree in biology. He then continued his education at Columbia University in New York City where he received his dental degree. Following his dental training at Columbia, he continued on to the University of Connecticut where he received his medical degree and did his formal training in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Doctor Mayer joined Northern Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 2005. He is board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Dentists, American Dental Association and the Minnesota Dental Association.

Doctor Mayer currently serves as President of the Northeastern District Dental Society and is a member of the Great Lakes Study Club (a local chapter of the Seattle Study Club), as well as the Duluth Dental Forum.

Doctor Mayer is dedicated to the advancement of the oral and maxillofacial field. He currently holds a United States Patent for his invention of a device to be used in the dental implant field. He also has a pending patent on a second invention relating to maxillofacial trauma.

Doctor Mayer has been married to his wife Tina for twenty four years. Together they have two children, Thomas and Anna, and a pug named Norman. Thomas attends college at Lake Superior College and Anna will be attending Missouri Western State University to play soccer in the Fall. Dr. Mayer is an avid outdoorsman. His hobbies include biking, hunting and fishing. FUN FACT: Dr. Mayer’s favorite tv show is Bizzare Foods on the Travel Channel.
